Fiona Carter

Group Director of Education, Forfar Education

Fiona has recently joined Forfar Education as their Group Director of Schools, overseeing education across a growing UK and international portfolio. She brings over 30 years of experience in education to the role, most recently working with Wellington College International for 8 years as their International Director, both in China and the UK.

She started her career in Sheffield as a Primary school teacher, before working in Germany for Forces Education and then returning to the South of England as a School Improvement Lead for local government, alongside playing a pivotal role in implementing new curriculum and assessment frameworks nationally. A drive to focus more on younger age groups and explore the commercial sector, Fiona joined the specialised consultancy company, Early Excellence which led her to a role with Wellington College China.

During her time with Wellington, she has lived in Shanghai and delighted in helping to establish outstanding K12 bilingual schools alongside creating a strong central office model of support and guidance to the group. Once back in the UK, Fiona has been driving global partnerships and strategic initiatives, leading cross‑functional collaboration in brand, marketing, and partner engagement to ensure each school reflects Wellington’s DNA.

This combination of having a clear vision for excellent education where pupils thrive, are independent, creative and academically strong whilst supporting the commercial growth of the unique Forfar brand has led her to this current role as Group Director of Education.
