Douglas Prescott
Head of School/Superintendent, Canadian International School of Beijing
A Canadian educator with 4 decades of experience currently into his eight-year, in Beijing, China. Part of his role as Superintendent is to provide support to sister schools across China within the AKD family of schools.
His experience includes teaching Physical Education, Health and Sex Education, History, Biology, English; Counselor; Athletic Director; Vice-Principal; Principal; Founding Principal, Head of School and Superintendent. He has a great depth of understanding as it relates to both the Canadian and World International Baccalaureate curriculums with professional certification in IB PYP, MYP and DP programs. He is very honored to be part of the C21 Canada and the CEO Academy- selected school system leaders committed to Learning and Innovation in the digital era.
Mr. Prescott has been a keynote presenter at several schools and school districts across Beijing and China and spoke in Shanghai most recently at the IBC 4th International Schools China Conference. He regularly hosts groups of local teachers and principals from across Beijing for professional development and motivational talks. He speaks on topics such as Teacher/Leader Resiliency, How to Become a Great Teacher; Teacher Recruitment-Retainment; and 21’s Century Skills. Mr. Prescott was invited to speak at the prestigious high school affiliated with Beijing Normal University on the anniversary of their one 100th year. His topic was –The C21 Canada 7 C’s –Competencies for Life and Learning in the 21st Century and Beyond.
He has been recognized and presented with several awards related to his coaching, community volunteerism and work as a principal/Head of School. He received the Minister’s Excellence Teaching Medallion for International Engagement for his work with international students and teachers in his province of New Brunswick, Canada. Mr. Prescott was presented with “The Certificate of Great Minds Gather in Beijing” -High-End Foreign Experts Award. Mr. Prescott was recognized for his achievement in “Top 10 Most Influential Headmasters in International Schools” held by Newschool Insight Media two years ago.
Mr. Prescott is passionate about empowering students and teachers with 21st century skillsbthrough living a life in service to others, thereby helping others to have the ability to make a positive difference in our world. He believes that every educator at all levels of the school system must make a “commitment to every student’s success”. The school he leads, CISB, has for the past two years, been recognized as one of the “Best International Schools” in Beijing in Recognition of Your Commitment to the Highest Quality Standards as selected by Diplomats at the yearly event organized by the Global Times.
