Craig Monaghan

Executive Principal, Nanwai King’s College School Wuxi

Mr. Monaghan is the Executive Principal of Nanwai King’s College School Wuxi. He brings to Wuxi an extensive international school experience. Most recently, Mr. Monaghan headed St. Julian’ s School in Lisbon, Portugal, a leading European school with more than 1,000 students from over 40 countries delivering the UK curriculum and IB Diploma. Under his leadership, St. Julian’ s experienced a significant increase in academic results and improved strategic planning and school operations. At Cairo English School in Eqypt, an IB World School that also offers the English National Curriculum, Mr Monaghan again focused on the school’ s strategic plan, greatly enhancing the reputation of the school and achieving over 30% increase in student numbers in three years. Back in his native New Zealand, Mr Monaghan was Headmaster at Westlake Boys’High School – one of New Zealand’s top performing academic and sporting schools with over 2,400 students. Students at the school achieved outstanding results across the curriculum with numerous national and international awards.

With a Masters in Educational Leadership and two education based Bachelors degrees, academics is a real focus for Mr. Monaghan and he strongly believes that success in academics is of paramount importance, provided that the child is enjoying and involved in the wider aspects of school life.

He is an ex-Olympian and has participated in three Olympics (Judo), and he is also an ex-provincial rugby representative.
