Craig Gemmell

President, Brewster Academy and Brewster Academy International

Craig began his life in independent schools at Pomfret School in Connecticut, USA, in 1988, where he taught biology for four years. After a stint in graduate school at Duke University, Craig returned to New England in 1994 to teach at Groton School, and served in numerous administrative capacities there over twenty-one years. He became Head of School at Brewster Academy in 2015. In 2021 Craig was named President of Brewster Academy and BA International, LLC; since that time, he has led the successful launch of Brewster’s first international campus, located in Madrid. Along with enjoying the work of running this new campus, he is also preparing to open a second school just outside of Madrid in Autumn 2024. In addition, he enjoys serving other schools as a lead NEASC accreditor.
