Simon Testa

Director of Schools, Beaconhouse Malaysia

Simon Testa started his career first as a teacher and then as head of department in European secondary schools after completing a B.Ed. (Hons) degree. After a number of years in the classroom, he joined Apple Computer, supporting schools in the implementation of ICT programmes and, after a few years, joined a State agency as training and development manager.

In 1995, Mr Testa resumed his teaching career when he joined San Andrea Middle School as Head of School. In 2000, he took up the position of Principal of St Albert the Great College in Valletta, Malta. During this period, Simon completed his Master's degree in Educational Leadership with University of Lincoln, UK, where he researched school improvement strategies for schools facing challenging circumstances.

In 2005, he moved to New Zealand where he joined New Zealand Tertiary College as a lecturer in professional studies and research. Soon after, he moved to the New Zealand Education Review Office, where he carried out school evaluations in different parts of New Zealand.

In 2009, Simon joined Beaconhouse UAE as a School Improvement Coordinator within the PPP project in Abu Dhabi. He moved to Lahore in August 2010 to take up the position of Director, School Evaluation where he developed the School Evaluation Unit. This Unit is now responsible for the evaluation of Beaconhouse schools and educational projects in Pakistan and other parts of the world. In May 2012, he joined Beaconhouse Malaysia as Director of Schools.

Mr Testa is passionate about educational improvement. He believes that all students deserve the best education possible and that every school can improve if the right conditions are in place and if sufficient capacity for improvement is developed.
