Director, European Gymnasium
Irina Bogantseva is a graduate of the history faculty of Moscow State University and worked for ten years as a teacher of history and then as an academic researcher. In 1990 she was elected a deputy for the Moscow City Council and worked in the mayoral department.
In 1992 she set up the European Gymnasium which has since become one of Moscow’s leading private schools. Today the European Gymnasium is one of the few Russian schools that works within the International Baccalaureate scheme, allowing its graduates to join foreign universities and colleges without additional examinations.
Moreover, the European Gymnasium is a UNESCO-associated school and a prep college for the Higher School of Economics State University. Irina Bogantseva has on more than one occasion been elected president of the Association of International Baccalaureate Schools for the Commonwealth of Independent States and is a member of the working group for the establishment in Moscow of an international finance centre.
