Dr. J. Mark Hensman
Chief Operating Officer and Director of Schools, Harrow International Management Services Ltd.
Previously, Dr Hensman was Headmaster of a traditional boys’ Secondary day and boarding school in New Zealand. During his Headship, he gained a reputation as a defender of a traditional approach to education during a period of significant reform. He was a member of the Minister of Education’s Principals’ advisory group and was Chairman of the independent Sixth Form External Examinations Board.
Dr Hensman comes from a family of educators with two of his brothers also headmasters, one now in Australia and the other still in New Zealand. His two sons are also teachers, one in Vancouver and the other in Singapore.
Dr Hensman was the Head Master of Harrow International School Bangkok for seven years before taking up his post as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Schools of Harrow International Management Services Co., Ltd., establishing other Harrow international schools and managing the Harrow international Schools.
Dr. Hensman is a regular speaker at Conferences on topics including “Establishing international schools”, “Education in the Twenty-First Century”, and “The Neurological Foundations of Spirituality in Education”.
Dr. Hensman has previously been Chairman of FOBISSEA (Federation of British International Schools of Southeast and East Asia), Secretary General of ISAT (International Schools Association of Thailand) and Vice Chairman of BCCT (British Chamber of Commerce Thailand). He is currently Vice Chairman of the ROSLT (Royal Over-Seas League Thailand and the Colloquium for British Foundation Schools Abroad.
